The Burial Of My Lolo Amin

THE BURIAL OF MY LOLO AMIN

My mother’s father was Benjamin Catequista Mospa.  He was the 7th child among the ten children of Carlos Mospa and Teodora Catequista. And he was the younger son among the two sons and he had eight sisters.

Lolo Amin was buried in Jaro Cemetery on July 12,1959.  I was able to find a picture of his burial in the old cabinet of my Lola Pilo, my father’s mother, who was able to save lots of old pictures. I was fascinated with this picture.  At first glance, I easily recognized some of the faces. There was my mother Visit, her sisters Nanay Letty, Auntie Cande, and Nanay Celia, and their cousin Nanay Juani.  But the rest of those in the picture, I have no idea who they were.

I have to ask somebody who might recognize those in the picture.  And the only person alive that I know who could help me is my Auntie Cande who now resides in Bacolod City.

So, I went to Bacolod City and talked to my aunt.

She was able to recognize some of them.

And she pointed to me Lolo Basilio Mospa, the eldest brother of my Lolo Amin.  I had been asking for his picture from his children and grandchildren to no avail, yet all along, he was there in the picture of the burial of Lolo Amin.

And there was Tatay Enes, Hermogenes Mospa, the eldest child of Lolo Basilio, whose family resides in Zarraga.

Tatay Pating, Paterno Mirasol was there too.  Tatay Pating was the husband of my Nanay’s cousin, Nanay Auring Mospa Guelos-Mirasol.

The ten-year-old boy standing at the rightmost was Manong Pio Mospa, the son of Tatay Takoy Mospa, Lolo Basilio’s second child.

Auntie Cande identified also some of them: Lola Pinang Mospa-Casiple, Lola Sayong Mospa-Jaena, Lola Londe Mospa (they were my Lolo’s sisters), Nanay Edith Hojilla-Henarios (Nanay’s cousin in the maternal side) and Nanay Alice Mospa-Alba, the youngest child of Lolo Basilio.

Text Box: Manong Pio

I got so excited when they were identified and I immediately shared their pictures with some of my relatives, nga most of whom wala na naka abot sa ila.

I was so happy that I was able to share this picture with them.  Sadya a.
