My THOUGHTS at the MOMENT

Manny Paquiao will run in the senate in 2016.  What is sad about it is that he will definitely win.  The Filipinos, instead of growing into mature voters, turned out to be poor voters.  These past elections, the likes of Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla, Jinggoy Estrada and Nancy Binay won over the likes of Sonia Roco, Winnie Monsod and Riza Hontiveros.  Que horror!

In our barangay, after six years of having no improvement, the same barangay captain has been voted again to sit for another three years.  I heard lots of complains about the leadership of the incumbent officials, but come election time, the same officials were still elected.  And we will hear complains again in the coming days.  Well people, you deserve who you chose to lead you, so stop complaining.

A lot of Marcos falsehoods had been flooding social media lately.  And we heard Imelda Marcos’ dream of returning to Malacañang thru his beloved son, Bongbong Marcos.  Campaign funds being distributed this early?

It’s as if twenty years in power is not enough!

Pnoy bashers and opportunists are having a field day now that they have an issue to throw back at him.  There are street protests by those who make it their regular fare to protest whoever is in power. And there are those who file for impeachment.

For those street marchers:  what else is new in your crusade?  Change your slogan, perhaps?  It’s just like a fill-in-the blanks mantra of “US -  _________ Dictatorship”.  The name of the current president always occupies the blank space.

And for those who bats for impeachment, are you prepared this early of a Binay presidency?

ABS-CBN’s teleseryes are stupid.  The characters are stupid.  The plot is rehashed and full of stupidities!  Are they running out of stories to tell?  Are they running out of good writers?  And the lead actors are OAs, my goodness!

Philpop 2014 has a winner. Philpop, what?

Just like last year, I also listened to all of the entries and among the twelve finalists, I found two with a potential to become a hit, yet neither made it as top winners.  I know that the aim of this contest is to revive Filipino music but based on the selected finalists, I am beginning to think that Filipino composers or songwriters could not come up with a decent song.  The finalists weren’t good enough to catch my attention.  Since the start of Philpop, I never heard a song that become a hit out of the contest.  Very sad.

I missed the earlier versions of this type of songwriting contests wherein great songs abound.
